COL (ret) George E. Peoples

George E. Peoples, MD, FACS is a graduate of West Point and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. After a surgical internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), he completed his surgical training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. During that time, Dr. Peoples also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Laboratory of Biologic Cancer Therapy at Harvard Medical School. He then completed a surgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC). He served as the Chief, Surgical Oncology at WRAMC from 2000-2006 when he assumed the same position at San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC).  COL Peoples retired from active duty in July 2014 and is the past Chair of the Cancer Program, SAMMC and the past Deputy Director of the United States Military Cancer Institute.  He currently serves as the Founder and Director of the Cancer Vaccine Development Program and Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, MD.  Additionally, he serves as the CEO of Cancer Insight, a boutique CRO specializing in cancer immunotherapy clinical trials and is a Professor (adjunct) of Surgical Oncology at MDACC.  He is the director of numerous multi-center clinical trials of cancer vaccines being conducted nationally and internationally.  He has written extensively on the immune response to cancer with over 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and book chapters.  Additionally, Dr. Peoples holds over a dozen patents and multiple INDs.
