COL Robert Lim

COL Robert LimDr. Lim is an Associate Professor of Surgery and the Chief of Metabolic and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center. He is a graduate of the Phillips Exeter Academy, Davidson College, New York Medical College and the MIS fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School. He is a past Program Chair for the SMS Military Symposium and the Excelsior Surgical Society’s annual meetings. He currently works at the Chair of the Acute Care Surgery Committee for SAGES and is the Chair of the Acute Care Surgery Session in 2017.

He was named co-Chair of the SAGES World Congress in Endoscopic Surgery for 2018. He has deployed to the combat zone 6 times and has been highly decorated for his work on the battlefield. His academic career has aimed to improve the education for surgeons and to recognize more accurate metrics for patient outcomes. He has published extensively on bariatric surgery, obesity care, combat surgery, and surgical simulation and he has recently published 2 textbooks.
